Name: Mira
Age: 22
Ingame names: Many different ones
Favorite game genre: MMORPG
Favorite MMORPG: Runescape and Maplestory
Best thing about that MMORPG: I like playing with other people, I love chatting, too. I'm a social gamer.
Worst thing about that MMORPG: Spam chat! People spamming the world chat constantly.
favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): I always do cleric/priest type in all MMOs.
Least favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): Archer

Wheee! Hi, everyone. I'm Mira and I have my own blog MMO Worlds. It's about MMO games but I am still working on it to add more content and stuff. LJ seems a cool place for getting to know other MMO lovers.

LaTale! [24 Oct 2010|12:37am]

otaruxsushi
Name/nickname: Otaru Sushi!
Age:  21
Ingame name(s): They vary between games. (Latale IGM's: OtaruS, CianDevlin, LyraDevx, AozoraArsov)
Favourite game genre: MMORPG's~ =)
Favourite mmorpg:  Admittedly I haven't played that many! If you asked me back in the day I'd have definitely said RO. xD Now, I'm really enjoying LaTale.
Best thing about that mmorpg: It's a very fun waste of my time? XD
Worst thing about that mmorpg: I don't know if it's necessarily a bad thing, but it could be if you don't like a lot of party play. There are many quests and bosses that are too tedious for one person.
Favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): I'm not sure, really. I haven't had much experience with many of the lvl 80 class characters. Just my Sorcerer and my friend's Bladder. XD But I really want to make a Gunslinger and a Warlord.
Favourite skill(of that character class): I don't really know for those classes, but I love my Sorcerer's Wind Walk. >__>
Least favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): Maybe Engineer? I tried raising one, but eh. I quit. *quitter* XD;

Currently I only play a couple other ones: Dragonica and TalesRunner.
Actually, I don't play Tales Runner much anymore. Not to say I wouldn't take it up again if someone else wanted to play. =)

Anyway, I'm not on everyday. Actually, I'm usually on during the later hours.  Anyone on the East coast who suffers from insomnia should definitely hit me up on one of these games. XD Preferably, I'd really like to find some LaTalers! I've recently returned to the game after a long absence and it's the one I'm wasting the most time on atm. =)

So yeah~ feel free to get in touch with me if you would like to play! I would love to play with ya! <3

Nice meeting you~

An introduction and Vindictus! [20 Oct 2010|07:38pm]

rehua
Name: Rehua
Age: 21
Ingame names: It varies from each MMO
Favorite game genre: Adventure, RPG, SRPGs
Favorite MMORPG: Vindictus
Best thing about that MMORPG: It's... fun. It plays like an action game where the emphasis is on things like combos and fast-paced gameplay. It is also ideal to play on a usb controller which I love to do.
Worst thing about that MMORPG: Hmm... it's still rather new, so not much content is out for it. There's also not much in the way of exploration, but I think the gameplay makes that utterly irrelevant.
favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): I suppose Lann (Dual wielding swordsman) is my favorite for the moment. In general, however, I am almost always a magician in MMOs.
Least favourite character class(from your favourite mmorpg): There isn't overly anyone I dislike in Vindictus thus far... for MMOs in general, I tend to dislike the typical swordsman, ironically.

Hello! I'm an avid consumer of all things MMO. I've been doing this ever since about the prime of iRO. My interests in the genre have withered considerably with work and schooling, but I am hoping meeting some new people who play any of these games will help reignite my tastes for it. Be warned I do not stick to one forever and hopping to others is something I do from time to time. If you suffer from a similar syndrome, I'm probably your girl. ♥

Vindictus is currently my main interest in MMORPGs right now and one I'd like to stick to as much as I can.  If you are playing it, please comment with your character name. I'll gladly play with you~ FFXIV is also another game I am playing at the moment. I don't have much motivation for it in comparison and would love to meet more people from the Rabanastre server.

As for the others I dabble in...

Ridiculously huge list!Collapse )

Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you all! I'd love to know all of your IGNs and servers for any of the games I mentioned.

Red Star Talisman [09 Aug 2010|03:18am]

silencescreams
Hey guys, don't know if you've played Talisman Online before, but it's a pretty good game. It's a 3D mmorpg set in a world like ancient china, 5 classes, pets, mounts...and it runs on low spec computers. These guys made a really nice mid-rate private server, so if you're interested try it out. :)

Hi all! My name is Carra, I'm 24 and I live in Hawaii. I'm new the community but not new to MMOs. I love trying out new MMOs although lately I haven't had time to play as much as I used to. I'm looking for people who play Dragonica. I currently play on the IAH version until the open beta starts on the THQ version. It's a really fun 3D side scroller type game. Anyway I figure I'd post here to see if there was anyone I could hang with.

Nice to meet you all!

An introduction and Fiesta [09 Jul 2008|03:50pm]

wedge55
Hi.

I just joined the community today and I'm looking forward to boring everyone with my MMORPG stories. :)

Lately I've been spending most of my time (well... all of my time) with the MMORPG Fiesta.  You can download the game for free from the official site here.

I don't usually bother with free MMOs, but Fiesta is actually different from the mindless grindfests that pass for "games." It's *shock* fun! There are tons of quests, PvP battle fields, and kingdom quests (think raids) so there's no shortage of things to do and you never have to mindlessly grind mobs for hours on end.  Also, the GMs run in game events every single day like monster battles, hide and go seek, and PvP battles against the GMs themselves.  Basically there's always a reason to log on and play.

Anybody else play Fiesta?

IF you do or if you're about to start hit me up on the Epith server (in game name Pfhor), and I'll help out if I can.

I've left some screenshots after the LJ cut if you're interested.

Take part in interesting MMORPG research! [22 Jun 2008|12:21pm]

Hey everyone!

I am a WoW player, but I'm also a psychology student and am carrying out some research into MMORPGs.

I did some a few years ago and it got published (see Cole & Griffiths 2007 Social Interactions in Online Role Playing Games).

I now want to look at relationships that develop in these games and certain personality traits. If you have 10 minutes to spare then please take part :) It is completely voluntary and I am not being paid to do this - it's part of my degree course.

The link is here: http://ess.ntu.ac.uk/sutton/formfiles/ee208650/mscproject.htm

Thank you so much!!

I Encourage You To Play This Online Game Called Starships! [03 Mar 2008|04:12pm]
mikemyles

Hi, everyone.

My name is Mike, and yes, I enjoy good science-fiction (eg. Asimov, Clarke, Dickson, Heinlein, et al), and I’m looking forward to reading, and reading about, other authors/works to broaden my horizons. I must admit, though, that I LOVE Star Trek!

I also enjoy playing Star Trek, or Star Trek-like games either online or on my PC; I don’t get to play the board or cards varieties in my neighbourhood.

However, today, I’m writing this e-mail, in all the groups I belong to. I appologize as a lot of you will receive it multiple times. My intent is NOT to spam you, truly. I do have an ulterior motive, though. The owners of the site of this online game I’m writing about are giving long-time players like me incentive to recruit.

The game is called “Starships!” I’m writing this, in part, because I’m confident that, if you give this game a try, you’ll really enjoy it if you try it.

So, go to this link and do just that; try it: http://starships-rpg.com/enlist.php?recruiter=Toronto

It’s an easy game to play. Here is the description, given by the owners themselves, that you’ll find once you access the site:

“Starships is a FREE web-based Massive Multiplayer Role-Playing Game. (MMORPG) where thousands and thousands of people share an online community. You can join for free right now! As you progress, your starship will gain abilities and increase in power. Your weapons, shields, engines and other features of your starship will gradually improve, and your opponents will become increasingly more powerful.

“Starships is written by a professional game creator of 25 years experience, so it is well balanced, planned out, and extremely fun to play, unlike other games which are poorly planned and are just after your money. Be a starship Captain! Travel to different systems exploring, battling, negotiating, partying and plundering.”

There used to be a Wikipedia.org article on this game, but I couldn’t find it yesterday, even after an extended search. There have been a few reviews about this game, though. The first review I found in a site called “MMORPG Review”. You can follow the link: www.mmorpg-review.com , or read what I pasted from their site:

“This game, released in 2004, is the LARGEST game we have encountered. It may even qualify as the largest game ever. The only comparable game (in sheer size) that we have ever encountered would posibly be the original Daggerfall:Elder Scrolls. Ship after ship, base after base, system after system. Basically, forget about exploring it all, it would take years of real time.
It's THAT freaking BIG.

“You become a starship captain and then start blowing up asteriods and other targets to acquire credits to use to buy better weapons, armor, sensors and crew. You move around human space - this is where all new captains start - and slowly but surely build up your bank account and your starship.

“As your starship becomes more powerful and useful, you can attack more powerful targets and eventually learn and earn the way into the next star system.

“At NO TIME does one need to spend real money on this game (something we always like). Everything in this game is purchasable with in-game finacials and hard work. There are a few maps floating around and dozens of roleplay and help groups to help the new captains power up their ships faster.

“With real money one can purchase fuel boosts - ap boosters for more play-time- but they are not required or neccessary to play the game (Though it's helpful because the game is addictive!). You also don't have to be a paid member to go to the other star systems as some other games require.

“This game also has an in-game communications system where players may transmit messages into subspace for all to read. This feature does cost some real money but it isnt NEEDED to enjoy this game fully. We are proud to give Starships! 5 stars.”

Another site, called “Online Game Review”, had a few reviews. You can access that site at:

www.ogreview.org

So try  this game. This is NOT spam. I really think you’ll like it!

Have you heard of Ghost Online? [03 Mar 2008|09:09pm]

morganvague
[ mood | hot ]

Hi all! I'm a new member. I really like MMORPGs so far but haven't played many. I started with the more-than-adorable Maplestory which insanely popular among its crowd but have since moved to Japan and, being unable to play MS Global, I had to switch games. I now play Ghost Online which is a very similar 2D, side-scrolling MMORPG which adorable characters and a plot line based off of Chinese mythology. Despite the name, there are no ghosts, only souls.

It is Malaysia based but the game is in English (or there's an English version because I play in English). It's still beta as far as I know but there's new releases quite frequently, especially for the cash shop if you're familiar with cash shops.

There's several classes like Maplestory (Mage, Assassin, Warrior) as well as guilds and parties, personal shops, quests, pets and . Some of the unique features include the soul system which you can use to replenish your magic (SP), fill sealed items (used for upgrading weapons and armor), and fill your rage meter (for a strong attack for a short period). You can also choose your allegiance to Chaos (Evil) or Order (good). Check the fortune teller on a daily basic for items. You can also gain experience and make money by mining or fishing. Players will also be excited to find PVP/PK options which are a lot of fun!

Another unique feature is the newly implemented encyclopedia. The pages start blank and you fill them by collecting 9 puzzle pieces from each monster. After you add all the pieces, the page is completed and you gain experience. This also shows the HP of the monster and name when you fight it. Very cool, IMO.

There are definitely less items and less variety in items, so far, than Maplestory but I think this helps you to gain money. I find that I've made much more gold in Ghost Online than I ever did in MS though I played for twice as long and much more frequently. It's also a whole hell of a lot faster to level with much less grind. The quests really help make things go faster and more exciting.

The map, for a game such as Ghost Online is huge! Without teleporting, you'll need see it. There's several pages and, at level 31, I've only spent most of my time on the first map.

I've been realy impressed with Ghost Online so far but have found their to be a lack of English speaking players and just a lot less people to play with than Maplesytory. I hope you consider it. If you do, look for a level 21 mage named Kytana.

I was browsing LJ and found this great community and had to join. The first online game I played was The Sims Online, I found it because I was a huge sim fan and thought nothing could be better than playing it online with other people. I was right, I was instantly addicted to it. The game started dying out and I searched the net for something new and found the Lineage 2 beta. I've been playing L2 off and on since the beta days. I tried WoW but just didn't like it much. Currently I'm readdicted to l2 and I'm going to stay and play until L3 comes out =)

just wanted to make a quick howdy post, after joining not an hour ago.
my name's candace, been a mmorpg'r since last year.
like many women, i was introduced to them (World of Warcraft and Eve Online) by my fiance, boyfriend at the time.
i fell in love with WoW and played it approx. 30+ hrs a week, and never realized my addiction until i had to stop playing the game.

i must say, when the term "mmorpg" first came into my life, i was highly against anything of the sort; who wants to pay monthly for a game, when you can play a once purchase console game?!

then i got away from dial-up and my world changed <3

that's my story in a teeny nut-shell.
